Our building, York on William, at 54 York St - situated at the corner of York & William - is one of the oldest buildings in Ottawa, dating back to 1875 (older than our current parliament buildings).
The Swalwell-Borbridge Building was its original name, it is a commercial building designed by Ottawa Architect William Hodgson. Early occupants included an undertaker, a baker, & a wholesaler, uses which reflect the diverse commercial activity of the ByWard Market in the 19th Century.
Once the home to the Former Fish Market Restaurant, Coasters, & Vineyards Wine Bar. Now house to: Starling Restaurant & Bar, Rooftop Ottawa & Apothecary Cocktail Lounge
Starling is Ottawa’s new concept which elevates any night out with hand-crafted cocktails & a refreshing, modern menu that draws inspiration from bold flavors & fresh ingredients.
